Message I have been entertaining the idea of changing to the 4.10 NA rear (versus the 3.70 for the TT). Using the transmission calculator ([ http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/transmission_300zx_tt.html ]), it indicates that in each gear at the same speed (i.e. 20mph in first gear, 50 in second gear, 70 in 3rd, etc.), the NA rear will be approximately 400RPM higher. With a turbo car, we all know what that equates to - more usable power. However, there is the downfall of lower top speed in each gear, and lower top speed overall (but who really goes 175mph anyway). I love the response of small turbos, which are IMHO, the ultimate street, and if driven well, track (opentrack) weapon (especially autocrossing). To make up for the "shorter" gears, I have been entertaining having the JWT cams installed, with the 7800 RPM increased redline. The NA-rear, coupled with the JWT cams, makes for about a 1mph difference at the top of each gear, yet I'd still get that 400RPM increase in each gear. Has anyone with stock turbos done this, or seen a car with it? I know these two are somewhat common on big turbo cars to battle lag and increase performance, but what if it were done on a stock turbo car for ultimate boost response (coupled with awesome flowing downpipes and midpipes that I already have).

Any thoughts are appreciated,
thanks,

SS
